Finally got around to looking at this thing that I bought ... likely years ago at this point. ^^

I think I put off checking it out because it sounded like you had to use some scripting language to do anything with it, but it seems most of the things you could do in rpgmaker 2000 are still there.

Mostly just tinkering with things here and there to learn how it works rather than actually trying to make a game. Not sure what kind of game I'd make even if I do get around to doing that. Granted I have an idea for a game, but that thing will be pretty freaking complex to set up given the entire story and world would morph as you play and make decisions. (Some on purpose, some by accident.)

One thing I'd like to have though is a complete world type thing built. IE: No overworld map connecting towns, just areas connected to areas. Perhaps set up some fast travel options for later on as you visit new sections, gain new allies, make new enemies... find special loot. I'm sure I'll be using the various assets sold on steam for the bulk of the game all the same. Whether I bother to make myself or commission to have some extra art/etc made will probably depend on if I actually look like I'll finish something and it looks good enough to toss on steam for a couple dollars. (And face all the backlash of 'reusing assets' ^_-)

Oh well, for now I'll just try brainstorming ideas. Already figured out treasure chests and harvest/collection sites that can exhaust after a few gatherings then slowly recover as days go by (resting at the inn, etc).

Yeah, it's a bit weird for me, too, in that I have all but the newest Steam versions of RPG Maker (MZ, along with Unite or whatever, which is apparently just a Unity plug-in), and yet Steam says the I used VX Ace for 48 minutes in 2017, and... that's the grand total of how much I've used any of them. Well, if you don't count the Playstation version which I had back in ye olden days. I messed around with that a bit, though nothing ever came of that, either. Mostly just played a little way into the pre-made game that came with it.

Main reason I never got MZ was because it has a huge list of DLC which costs more than the main program does, which is itself already $80 USD at full price. But then, that's true of MV as well, and I did buy that one (as a bundle with a tiny fraction of the DLC, on sale for around $30, back in 2020). Haven't even opened the app at all, according to Steam. Go figure. And I didn't even know about Unite until now. Not that I've ever used Unity either. *shrug*

It's like... I probably could make something if I messed around with it, but for whatever reason I just can't bring myself to care enough to try... :/

Speaking of Unity, it looks like I'll now never have a reason to ever try that Unite thing to begin with.
