Time Flies
Jan. 2nd, 2020 04:42 pmWow. I just did a look back over my archive on here for 2019. 12 posts for 2019. It was averaging almost 2/month until the end of September. Looking at the archive it didn't show me January's results by default but that's fine. I doubt it was much better.
I'll have to try harder to actually post about -something- this next year I guess. Normally there's enough shit going on in the gaming industry to make me rant every month but I suppose I'm actually starting to get apathetic towards it all - I know I certainly don't like the shit being done on a regular basis any more than I use to.
The only game I'm looking forward to this year is actually a re-release of an old game. Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen. IE: The original game in the series. And I'm currently kicking myself in the ass because I just checked ebgames and it's expected release date is TOMORROW.
I don't have the 80 bucks needed for that until next week. Had I known about this I'd likely have saved a bit of extra cash over Christmas. Oh well, it only says "Expected Release" so maybe I'll luck out and it was delayed? Yeah probably not but eh.
Anyway we'll see how that goes. I'm sure I'll be ranting about it on Monday if they sell out or gut their remaining copies by Monday. On the plus side, even if they do that I should be able to order it off Amazon if necessary.
This year I plan on trying to seriously get back into coding the Atari 7800. I've been working on the redesign for Graze Suit Alpha now that I have a pretty good idea of what I want the final game to look like. With the amount of things that need to be changed/revamped I'll likely be starting the code from scratch and pulling things in from the old code as needed, if needed. I'm also likely going to toss the 320B video mode and use the more common 160 modes. I wanted the higher resolution originally because it would be easier to draw sprites for it compared to the fatty pixels of the 160 mode but the number of other trade offs for using 320 modes kept piling up, especially in the palette choice department. I'll be keeping the 320 mode for the title screen perhaps unless I can get something better on the go... which honestly might be easily done...
