owsf2000I did some troubleshooting last weekend, and with the help of a forum post I solved the black screen problem I was having trying to run Minecraft. I still need a new computer to really enjoy it fully since the only way I can play it without horrible lag is with a lot of fog enabled. Luckily you don't notice it too much when you're in caves etc I guess.s
So what have I done in Minecraft since Sunday?
1. Dug myself into a hole and cried about zombies and spiders.
2. Turned said hole into sandstone/glass base.
3. Dug down to bedrock in a step-down fashion (staircase)
4. Killed a slime.
5. Did a small branch mine that was enormously profitable diamond-wise. (Seriously, the branch mine is tiny compared to what some let's plays were and still managed 13-14 diamonds from it.)
6. Almost took a lava bath.
7. Found a Zombie Spawner. Shut said Spawner down.
8. Decided to dig out a Dark Room trap with the zombie spawner inside it (close to the side so I'd be close enough to activate it for extra feathers, in theory.)
9. Discovered a Skeleton Spawner while digging out the Dark Room. Said spawner is shut down. No respawning required!
10. Did a small underground tree farm.
11. Died from suffocation when a damned tree grew while I was harvesting said tree farm. (leaves grew over my head. Knew it was possible so not too surprised.)
12. Made a wheat farm.
13. Dug a mineshaft straight down to bedrock within base. For the lulz.
14. Created a Safe Fall pit so I can quickly dive down to the mineshaft's bottom without using the ladder.
15. Did a quick exploration run over the nearby hills and found cacti.
16. Made use of the leveled beach in front of house to plant lots and lots of cacti. Manual harvesting of this field at this point can yield a stack of 64.
17. Created an underground cacti farm that does automatic harvesting, delivering the blocks to you through water canals. It yields about 100 cacti per hour if you sit in the collection plate while afk - I don't usually, but I do drop by the room whenever I pass and pick up the 10 or so sitting in the collection plate and put it in the storage box.
18. Expanded the size of the tree farm. It now yields a stack or more of wood per harvest and usually a surplus of saplings.
19. Did a lot of pig hunting. (half a large chest of cooked meat now!)
20. Got a bow and a lot of arrows.
I'm sure I'm missing out a bunch of the other things. I've fought 5 creepers in total. First two exploded on me. Had lots of lag at the time. Third I killed successfully with a sword. Fourth exploded on me. Fifth I killed with my bow. :) Neither of them got the surprise drop on me. I turned around and saw them coming in time. In a couple times in an odd sixth sense kind of way. >_>
Next project, since I'm procrastinating on finishing the dark room (I want to try some redstone stuff with it, but need to do some piston tests first. piston blocks won't be in minecraft proper until 1.5 or so anyway.) is to convert the skeleton spawner into a drown trap/arrow collector. That's tonight's project after I do some brush ups on how they're done.
