The disadvantage of cataloging your video game collection with a site like Backloggery is that it catalogs your video game collection. That is to say it makes it easy, with a single glance, to see how freaking large your collection is becoming.

I find daily solace in that most of the guys on Atari Age have game collections that make mine look tiny. Heck, some of them make Kane's collection look tiny.

But the other problem with this is that the desire to have nice even numbers start to kick in. Right now I'm at 398. The temptation to get two more games is ever so strong. >_>

And that's why I've already technically bought some! But they're with a person through Atari Age so it'll be arriving in the mail later next month. ;)

I'm just glad that it doesn't have an "estimated value" of all the games on one's list, because that could be a bit depressing (or perhaps brag-worthy depending upon one's mindset). Then again, I've got my ign and gamespot lists to handle that, I guess... ¬_¬ Even if they don't give nearly the same values. And I don't keep them as up-to-date as backloggery these days.

...or at least they used to do that. Guess they don't anymore, or if it is still there it's hidden away somewhere I can't find at the moment. (And apparently ign has updated the format of the way they display the lists since last I checked a while back, which, for the record, is quite ass.)

Oh wait, no, gamespot still does, at least.

Oh and did I say the new ign lists are "quite ass"? I meant to say that they are "really, truly, most definitely, horrible ass".

(For instance, probably three-fourths of the stuff that was in my wishlist has been moved to my collection list, even shit that won't be released for months/years yet. Or, more appropriately, since it's all one big-ass list now, I guess I should probably say that the "collection" radio button is selected for things that should have had the "wishlist" radio button selected instead. I don't have time to clean it up right now, and I don't even know if it's worth the trouble even when I will have the time.)

But 398 is such awesome -- it's exactly twice the size of the largest prime number under 200! How often can you say that?

You will regret those two new games in short order. Four hundreds come and go, but three hundred ninety-eights are forever.
