Ok, so it's been about 16hrs after I had the wisdom tooth disassembled and removed.

The actual visit was remarkably quick. The scheduled appointment was for 10am. I got there 9:40, they brought me in for the needle freezing at 9:50. By 10:00 half of my head was knocked out and the dentist began. By 10:07, as he had told me before, he had finished putting in the stitches and we were done.

There was no pain. Hell, I can't say I even felt the needle. They gave me a prescription, told me how to deal with the bleeding socket, and off I went. For the bleeding they basically told me to take the gauss out after an hour, and if it was still bleeding that I could use a warm soaked teabag. And to repeat the process every hour.

Of course, there was "no pain" because of the freezing. And the freezing would last until about 1pm. As the pharmacist suggested, I took one of the painkillers just as it was starting to wear off to kind of head off the pain as much as possible.

It wasn't until 3pm that I was confident enough that the bleeding had stopped and I stopped putting teabags in my mouth. X_X Having them in my mouth was a bit painful near the end of that since it obviously applied pressure on the now empty socket at the back of my mouth. The downside was that without a teabag/gauss in my mouth it felt weird to swallow. This is because of how that new empty socket would have pressure applied on it when I did so. Wasn't as painful as I thought it would be.

I spent the day watching Anime on dvd. I had my vcr pulled out of storage in hopes of watching old movies on that as well, but it doesn't seem to work. :( Pressing play or rewind, etc wouldn't work. I'm going to see if that's just the buttons on the console that suck or not now in a minute by trying to use it's remote...

Anyhow, I have pain killers and antibiotics to take for the tooth. The painkillers are "use as needed" but the antibiotics is 1/6hrs until finished. I've been using some of the painkillers, and using ice wrapped in a towel on and off. The painkillers make me a bit drowsy however, plus walking isn't my favorite exercise right now. >_>

Plus I don't like opening my mouth right now, and talking is for the most part out of the question. I'll be taking tomorrow off of work as planned unless there's vast improvement between now and then.

So here it is at 2am in the morning, roughly, and I just woke up from falling asleep on the couch. I was leaning a bit on the side of mouth that had the extraction, hopefully that didn't do anything too bad. >_> Going to sit down and watch even more dvds as one thing the dentist told me was to take it easy for a few days. Exercise promotes bleeding etc.

As a rundown of what I watched yesterday afternoon:

Vandread: 2nd Stage (All 13 episodes)
Tenchi The Movie
Chobits Vol 6
Lost Universe Vol 1-2.

These are mostly DVDs I bought cheaply at walmart years ago for like 6-8 dollars each. Amazing how anime dvds became relatively cheap at most places around town while Walmart was selling these things. :P But as soon as Walmart sold out of them, the prices around town went straight back up to the 30+ range. I suspect at least one store bought up Walmart's DVDs to resell as in particular one store was sold out of a few of these series for like a year or more. Then as soon as walmart was mostly sold out of it, poof! They had stock of it again! (At 35+ per dvd)

sounds like you're doing pretty well. I had my 4 wisdom teeth out right near thanksgiving, and, since like you the pain didn't set in immediately, i decided that i was good enough to have some thanksgiving dinner. heh, and some milk duds. needless to say, i was not a happy camper the next morning. ^_^;

I'm trying to picture the pain you must have had, but I'm sure it goes beyond the realm of my imagination. ^_^; It's now Saturday for me, and I've -just- started eating again. Barely. I'm glad I grabbed a big "snack" on the way home from work thursday morning and ate til I was full. As I knew I wouldn't want to eat for a while after the tooth was dismantled/removed. As it was I was able to go from thursday 4am to about saturday 5am without anything more than water and apple juice. (Which I would take every 6hrs with my antibiotics and stuff.)

Had some pudding this morning, and while that was easy enough (I had 3 cups of it!) I'm thinking I'm going to walk down to the grocery store now soon to see if there's anything else there that's soft to eat. Just had my latest painkiller then so going to wait an hour before heading out just to make sure it kicks in beforehand.

Now if only this swelling will settle down... which it -should- start doing soon. X_X
