Still continuing with this game, after several restarts. Restarted the last time since I realized how much time I was wasting away. Right now my stats are Academics 3/6, Charm 4/6, and Courage 6/6. Fuuka has recently joined the group.
The main thing I hate about the game is the old fashion (to me) idea of when the main character dies, it's game over, regardless of how well everyone else is. I've had to redo several parts of Tartarus because of that. I'd get really far up, close to the next two-way recall point when suddenly I'll get surprised by a monster and get killed by all the monsters focusing their attacks directly at me. Sometimes I would happen to be weak vs them due to selected persona. Other times they'd just be damned strong to begin with and get criticals.
However at least I haven't had to deal with Death yet, although it came close a couple times. That's the randomly appearing (based on floor or selection of cursed cards, etc) super high level monster that hunts you down on a floor when it appears. It always feels like the game designers were too pussy to just put in an instant death penalty for picking a cursed card so they decided "We'll just toss a lv60-70 monster in the area to hunt him down." Just so they can say it's the players fault for avoiding it. ;)
Regardless, it annoys the heck out of me and caused me to lose interest in the game at least once (which resulted in me having to restart later when I picked it up again 6 months later.)
Anyhow, as far as Tartarus is concerned, I've reached floor 59 and I hear the top of the 3rd block is only a couple floors after it. So I guess I'll get the third old document in time for Elizabeth's requests.

Date: 2009-04-16 06:08 am (UTC)Basic strategy for me is to get to the next save point, if everyone is still good to go, I go down and save the game, then jump back up and defeat the boss then go down again to save. Then start xping. If people are tired by the time I get there I just save then do some basic xping before finishing up for the Dark Hour that day. (Then I'll start the next tartarus trip by taking out the boss and proceeding.)
