More Minecraft Stuff
Jun. 10th, 2011 08:00 amSeems like that's the only thing I've been posting about lately eh? Oh well, I'll get pissed enough at the video game industry soon enough to rant about them.
Anyhow, since the last post:
1. Spider drown trap failed. Horribly.
2. Spider Cactus trap succeeded brilliantly.
3. Did more caving near the Dark Room Trap. The more caves I light up within spawn range, the better the trap itself should function. The cave is probably among the more dangerous ones I've found. Lots of holes in the floor and ceiling. As such you can fall to your death at any time if you're not looking, or mobs can fall on -you- at any time when you're not looking. I patch up the holes as I go.
4. Found another skeleton spawner in the above mentioned cave system. I've collected it's moss stone and pitiful loot, but haven't yet set up a skeleton trap. Given how close it is to the Dark Room collector I might not bother. I'm already rolling in bones in arrows for the near future.
5. Tinkered with mushroom farms since they spread now. I have semi-automatic harvesting farms set up in Castletown and the dark room collector. The collector's farm drops the mushrooms into the main collector stream. I've also did a few tests and found I can plant mushrooms inside the walls and they'll grow through the corner to suddenly appear on the floor near walls. Also used this property to work on some more semi-automatic farm techniques. I've noticed that mushrooms harvested with flowing water have a chance at being destroyed rather than pop off as items.
6. Started harvesting obsidian to do a little cosmetic revamping at the main base.
7. Been cobble-fying the nether. Basically building a base/labyrinth out of the caves/etc I find as I go. Main goal is to find glowstone, but building the labyrinth of cobble is useful for protecting against ghast fire.
Unsure what I'm going to do next. Gotta continue lighting up that cave system, want more glowstone, thinking of making a "battle arena in the nether for fighting ghasts (basically a big cobble field up in the sky so you're closer ot the buggers, but we'll see how that goes.)
I also want to test the effects of cactus against zombie pigmen and ghasts.
Otherwise there's more mining to be done at castletown, and I'm thinking of building a tower onto the main base and harvesting sand at the desert base.
On another note, I've been considering learning how to do mods for minecraft. There's various things I'd like to attempt to add. I doubt I'd be able to do it, but it'd be interesting to check out.
