7800 Controller (NES controller hack)
Feb. 2nd, 2008 11:05 pmThe 7800 controller I ordered last month arrived. It's basically a rewired, dyed, and spiffed up NES controller made to work with the Atari 7800. The default Proline controllers for the 7800 are liquid pain to use.
Works wonderfully. Was able to play the games I have for the console with relative comfort. I wouldn't mind picking up another couple of these controllers later on if the person who was doing them offers to do another batch. That'll depend on my money situation at the time of course. I might just start 7800 programming later this year, using this controller to test the playability of the games. I'd still need a ram cartridge for the 7800 tho that works similarly to the Krocodile Cartridge I have for the 2600. Cuttle Cart II's are just too expensive, and harder and harder to find, so I guess I'll just keep my eyes peeled to see if someone does another type of cartridge for it. So long as it'll handle bankswitched games and have a soundchip on the cartridge, it'll serve my purposes.
