owsf2000*tosses third speedstream modem on the table without bothering to hook it up*
What the hell is wrong with these people? 4 people on tech, 4 different solutions mentioned - the last one tried to tell me the 1.15Mbps I was getting -was- ultra highspeed. Ultra highspeed at this isp is suppose to be 5.0 Mbps. Another technician is being sent by on monday afternoon with notes to give me a commtrend modem. If he tries to give me a speedstream I will be able to tell him where to stick it and demand the proper one. I will also give him both of these modems I have currently since the last speedstream that arrived today didn't even have a bloody return bag for the other modem. (Which I was told there would be one.) There was also a letter in with that third modem telling me my service would be activated on the 14th. :P So now there's also another potential problem after I get the proper modem. They might have reset the ultra high speed to regular highspeed.
There is a software cd for the highspeed internet - but I don't see how that could be the cause of the problem I'm having with the speed. In November I was directly connected to my old roommate's modem without software of any kind, and no other computer involved and was able to pull off over twice the speed I'm getting. And if it was important, you'd think the first technician would have mentioned it rather than just plugging in the modem and leaving me with a phone number to call tech for my username and password.
Regardless, 4 calls to tech at least over the last 3 weeks. Each one of them had a different solution, although those that consulted with the senior tech staff had no problems with the comtrend modem route regardless of what they were trying to do before talking to them. I think someone's staff needs a freaking refresher course.
