According to PC Gamer, The PC port of the latest batman game that was yanked from Steam due to being such a buggy unplayable mess for the majority of PC gamers, is finally back on Steam!
After 4 months!
And apparently not all the bugs are fixed yet. They're still working with GPU companies to get the game working nicely for them (Why they need the GPU people to fix drivers to suit their needs instead of just making sure they program it correctly to begin with is beyond me - most people don't seem to have a problem delivering high quality graphics on their PC game.) but they did notice that if you have at least 12 GIGABYTES of ram on Windows 10 then the game won't need to page stuff out, and as a result it'll actually run much better.
To help calm the sheep, Warner has decided to do a favorite tactic of a couple other publishers that also release pretty poor quality games at times. (I'm still laughing at the whole Assassin's Creed disaster, but probably because I avoided the game like the plague.) Indeed, they've decided in their generosity they will give all those who buy this still-buggy-after-4-months-of-intense-fixing before Nov 16 FREE COPIES of games they likely already own.
Yes, that is digital copies of Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY, Batman: Arkham City GOTY, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. You know, the games most of the players of this game have probably already bought and enjoyed and bought the latest game based entirely on their opinions on the previous games.
So if you're a hardcore Batman fan, you're shit out of luck - there's nothing new for you here since you likely already have it all. The only benefit this has is to anyone who might have never played the series before, but when the game is still pretty buggy on PC... would you really care?
They aren't even giving away any of the DLC for the current game as an apology. Probably because that would actually cut into their profits - they've already milked the older games they're giving away for all their worth.
I'm still not interested in the game so naturally I won't be buying it - either before or after Nov 16. And that's before you even consider the fact that the game is likely going to cost way more than I would ever pay for a game on steam.

Date: 2015-10-29 05:16 pm (UTC)Maybe when the full game (i.e. the game plus all of the inevitable DLC, including what is already out there now and whatever else they may decide to shit out later, after the six month period of the Season Pass has expired) is all bundled together for $5 in a few years, then maybe I'll look into it again. Maybe. But $49.99 for the base game (i.e. the version with all the DLC shit chopped out of it) and $89.99 (!!!) for the "Premium Edition" (which "Includes 2 items: Batman™: Arkham Knight, Batman™: Arkham Knight Season Pass" according to Steam) is still way too rich for my blood.
And, no, as you say, none of that DLC is apparently being given away in this so-called "deal" with the previous games which, yes, I already own (except for Blackgate which I don't give a shit about) so, yes, this "deal" means exactly jack and shit to me.
Here's the DLC, according to the Steam page:
Downloadable Content For This Game
$39.99 Batman™: Arkham Knight Season Pass
$6.99 A Matter of Family
$1.99 Harley Quinn Story Pack
$1.99 Red Hood Story Pack
$1.99 Prototype Batmobile Skin
$1.99 Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile Pack
$0.99 1st Appearance Batman Skin
$1.99 Bat-Family Skin Pack
$1.99 1989 Movie Batmobile Pack
$1.99 Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #1
$1.99 Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #2
$1.99 Crime Fighter Challenge Pack #3
$1.99 GCPD Lockdown
$1.99 2008 Tumbler Batmobile Pack
$0.99 1970s Batman Themed Batmobile Skin
-----
$70.85 Total
So, yeah, I don't know if all that other extraneous bullshit is included in the "Season Pass" or not, but if it isn't, then the DLC costs more than the game does. If it is included, then the DLC "only" costs about the same fucking price as the fucking game itself (i.e. $39.99 for "just" the Season Pass, when the base game itself costs $49.99). Just to note again, however, that the Season Pass apparently claims to only cover up to six months after release (by which I assume that means the original release back in June), so any DLC they release after that period, I can only assume will not be covered by the Season Pass and will have to be bought separately.

Odds are the DLC you see above is part of the season pass - it's just the portion that's been slowdripped out already since june. This of course assumes they're not totally morally bankrupt of course.

Date: 2015-10-30 03:51 pm (UTC)This is, of course, assuming that all of Arkham Knight is even on the physical disc to begin with, as opposed to mostly or completely not on the disc at all, as is the case with Metal Gear or Minecraft Story Mode or whatever else.
At this point, I can pretty much only assume that it's necessarily going to be one of those extremes or the other, given how badly the modern video game industry behaves in general these days. ¬_¬
