Facebook Groups
Jul. 8th, 2014 06:00 amYou know, there was a time when to join something, you had to do it yourself. You know, this was to prevent people from adding you to spam lists, or things you just otherwise didn't want to be associated with.
On facebook though, you'd best keep an eye on your groups as it seems anyone can sign you up for any group - and then it's your responsibility to remove yourself from it, and if you're really serious, flag it so that the members can't re-add you to it afterwards.
I don't use facebook. I have an account. I log in on average of once per year to tell people I don't miss not logging in. :P
So for those on facebook, don't take it the wrong way when I remove myself from a group you signed me up for. I'm not going to start using facebook to participate in a group. As such I won't be reading the group. So it's kind of a lie to be assuming I'm a part of the group, yes?
I hope the group works out for you guys and you have fun like in the old days, but I just have no intention of using facebook for... anything, really.
Case in point: If someone didn't take the time to inform me I was part of the group, I likely would have never known I was a part of it. It took me a few minutes just to find where the groups were when I logged in. If I wasn't actively looking for it, I doubt I would have noticed it during my standard yearly status update.
