I'm kinda hoping this gets funded but with 2 weeks left it's probably going to have trouble reaching it's goal. The original game is mostly a shooter type game but this will end up being a lot more like the Wonderboy in Monster World games.

For the game's music, one of two music composers has been named thus far. Michiru Yamane worked on a variety of titles including Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and more recently Skullgirls.

The kickstarter ends May 4th, currently at 30k of 150k pledged.

I'd never heard of the game before this post, but it does look cool, so I pledged $15 toward it. I agree, though, that things look kind of grim for it to reach its goal at this point. Unless it gets featured on some big site like PC Gamer or RPS or something, it likely won't hit it, and even then it's still probably a long shot. :/

They've apparently cancelled their Kickstarter campaign now.

"While we were working hard on a relaunch of this Kickstarter campaign with a new approach and lots of improvements, we had the chance to discuss with FDG Entertainment's Thomas Kern about a possible collaboration on Flying Hamster II. We finally agreed to put our efforts together and make the game happen without rebooting our campaign.

We are really thrilled that we can go on production earlier than we could ever expect, thanks to the help of FDG Entertainment, and without changing anything from what we initially planned to make. We even think that being published by FDG Entertainment will drastically raise the overall quality of the game as we are now able to focus on its development and get their experienced feedback and support.

And here’s what’s gonna happen next:

  • Yes, Flying Hamster II will be released on Steam for PC Windows once we finish the development, other ports will follow later.
  • Flying Hamster II won’t be downgraded or turned into any kind of freemium game: it will remain a full downloadable premium game."

So it looks like the game is going to be made regardless, even though the Kickstarter failed.

On an unrelated note, this is at least twice now that I've clicked the "Preview" button when writing a comment, only to have it actually post the damn thing before I was ready. Rather annoying.

Yep, it did it on that last one too, though I was ready for it that time and just clicked the "Preview" button to see what it would do.

Essentially, click "More Options...", which brings you to a new-ish LJ edit window, then click "Preview" from there, which brings you to the old style preview edit window (at least for me), but then clicking "Preview" on that one just posts the comment.

Let's try it again and see if...

...yep, clicking "Preview" on the old style preview edit window just posts the damn comment, rather than refreshing the preview edit window. Good job, LiveJournal. -_-

Excellent news. I'll likely wait for the Vita port myself in this case, but definitely will pick it up. If it's half as good as it seemed to look for animations, etc, it'll be worth it.
