Sega Saturn

I've finally hooked up my Saturn for the first time in probably 15+ years. It ended up being a bit more time consuming that I hoped because I had to REBUY ALL THE CONNECTIONS FOR IT.

Essentially sometime during the summer my storage room downstairs, along with several others, was broken into. And shit got stolen. My Sega Saturn itself was safe up in the apartment, but I had a bag containing the wiring and controllers down in the storage room.

So when I went down there and noticed how much emptier it was before...

I generally only keep stuff down there that I don't care too much about or never expect to use so I don't know exactly what was taken beyond a couple things - such as those connectors for the Saturn, My Sega CD unit (That I never managed to get working anyway) and a couple of gifts I got from work including a laptop bag of sorts that I had some old comics stuffed into. (Unless those comics are all up here - I think the ones I liked are at least.)

So yeah. Luckily I was able to get a couple of new 3rd party Saturn controllers for 20 dollars each. They seem serviceable enough at least. Also got a proper A/V connector. Thankfully the power cord used by the Saturn is just a cord similar to what's used in the Playstation consoles, so I grabbed the one from the PS1.

Saturn works proper, although the battery is definitely dead - no surprise. It keeps asking for the date/time when you power on. This means I can't trust the system memory to keep a save game I guess. I may have to look into getting one of those Action Replays off Amazon so I can use the save functionality from that. (Plus I own a couple of import fighting games anyhow - Vampire Hunters and Street Fighter Alpha (Zero) II.

Hal-con is coming up soon as well. I don't particularly expect to see much for Saturn stuff there but I'll keep an eye open all the same. Until I get me some more games to play I might not be using it too often anyway, as I only have Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV and Duke Nukem 3D domestically on the system. Probably should have bought more games when they were available and cheap. Right now the only games available locally in town that are affordable (less than 100 bucks...) are at Spin It. And I don't want to spend that kinda cash just to be able to play this thing. (I may consider getting some of the 30-50 dollar titles, but again those aren't the ones I'd normally bother playing so it's still a tough sell.)
