Year of the Loot Boxes

So yeah, looks like EA is going full throttle (ahaha) with Loot boxes in all their games going forward.

I'd be more angry if I ever had an impulse to buy an EA game, but that doesn't mean I'm not unaffected entirely. As predicted, microtransactions and loot boxes are polluting full price games now after they were such a hit with the free to play crowd.

This is why the free to play crowd (The gamers) really should have known better than to fork over shitloads of money playing those types of games.

About all I can say is how I feel I suppose. No matter how shitty, how expensive, or how lazy the game industry is currently - there is no ceiling (no bottom of the pit?) that we're standing at. If you encourage it by forking your money over, it's just empowering them to take that next step for the next half assed game they put out.

Yeah... at this point, it's almost like I can't even really blame the game industry for readily taking advantage of all the morons out there with their lips attached to the sewer pipe, waving their wallets and asking for more and more shit to be pushed down their throats. It's already long since been established that the game industry itself has no scruples at all, so the onus is more on the gamers themselves to put a stop to this by not buying the shit and by supporting the few game creators left who don't do this shit, but if most gamers are going to buy into this microtransaction shit anyway, why should the game industry stop?

"It's getting out of control." No, Angry Joe, it has been out of control for many years now, already.

"I just want to say fuck off." Then fucking say it. It's EA (and it's not just EA at this point, of course, who does this dumbshit, but they're one of the biggest, most obvious culprits), so they know it's going to have dogshit like this in it, but they buy it anyway. But then, Angry Joe is a reviewer, so I'll give him a slight pass for buying this shit even though he knows it's going to blow, but there's no excuse for anyone else.

And yet, to this day, you still have idiots actively defending this indefensible shit and the companies who do it. It's like Trump voters still defending Trump. Of course, at least half of the "people" defending Trump on social media are Russian bots, which is similar to how at least half of the "people" defending microtransaction horseshit on gaming forums are reputation management drones. So, hell, it's even more similar. EA is the "fake news" of the video game industry.

Apparently there was a huge negative stink on reddit over this shit over the weekend. Enough to cause EA to do the famous half-step-back to pacify the flock. Costs to unlock shit were dropped a lot.

And, hilariously enough, it seems EA hid the refund button for the game on their website after the shit hit the fan.

I'm referring to the OTHER loot box game EA is releasing mind you - the star wars battlefront 2 or whatever the hell it is. NFS as far as I know isn't changed at all. But it's how we know that all these loot box scams are indeed 100% EA, rather than the developers themselves. (But I still recommend hating on both.)
