Today is the first day in over a week that my place has been a hospitable temperature. Normally wind won't blow in through the windows during the summer which causes the place to heat up significantly. And after one of my fans died last week it was worse than normal. Going to try to get a replacement tomorrow.

Anyway, as a result of the heat I've been mostly useless on my Atari 7800 game project. Code-wise at least. Just can't stand coding when I'm dripping with sweat. On the other hand, I did manage to get a lot of planning in for the first potential boss in the game, which will be a turret system of projectile throwing pods. You won't be able to defeat them yourself, so you'll need to do one of several methods to bring a turret down. Even with that, there will be a master system that will work to restore/repair them as time goes on.

Plenty more about it beyond that, but since it's still in the planning stages I won't bother to write'em down. I do have sprites drawn up for the pods and bare walls, and the master system's section of the wall. The fun thing about this setup is that the pods and walls should be able to be included without a reduction in the objects in the game since I'll be tucking it into a special subroutine that will be called while the Status Bar is being saved.

For now however, before I can get to work on adding the boss itself, I have to rework the spawning routine so it'll be easier to add and modify new enemy types to it. So far it worked fine but only because there was a single enemy type in the game. That's not going to work so well in the future once new enemies are added. And I have animations for 2 or 3 new enemies ready to be added.

The spawn routine -is- rewritten already. It seems to work as planned, but there are some bugs in the speed setting routines that make some mobs insanely fast. (to the point where it's just bouncing on and off the screen at times.) I guess that's what I get for trying to get fancy with it. So working on that, then I'll finish preparing the code for the Turret Walls - when the walls are active, I don't want enemies spawning behind them and I don't want the players or enemies moving through them.

The spawning issue is already fixed - I just added two new variables "LeftWall" and "RightWall". If either of them are "0", it assumes the wall is off and enemies can spawn off the screen behind where they would be placed. Otherwise, they will represent the X coordinates that neither players nor enemies will be able to move behind.

So yeah, hopefully with the heat temporarily at bay I'll be able to get a little bit of work done. :)

Also, Vocallective released another digital album (Free) on bandcamp recently - "Drum & Bass & Vocaloid 3". They release songs from a lot of aspiring musicans/song writers that use vocaloids and utaloids.
