Does this really surprise anyone? It's pretty much exactly what I expected of them - they knew the problems but threw it out the door anyway.

Yet another reason to never pre-order a game, and one of the reasons why companies have started doing pre-order bonuses that consist of ripped out portions of the game. (No idea if WB did that with this game mind you, but it is becoming a common tactic to get pre-orders.)

Yep, not a surprise in the slightest. This also makes a lie out of the supposed claims I've been seeing from apologists that the PC port was just some kind of last minute rush job. If WB knew about how bad it was for months beforehand, then it obviously wasn't "last minute." As if it actually being "last minute" would have somehow been a good excuse for why it was so terrible, even if it had been true, but then that's fanboy logic for you.

And then, of course, I look at the comments and the very first comment is some dimbulb chiming in with a "screw consoles" comment, and the first reply to that is "consoles are a cancer" and that's where I stopped trying to read the asinine comments on that PC Gamer article. That's one of the reasons I removed PC Gamer from my newsfeed in the first place, since a lot of the articles lately had been tending to cater to fuckwits (http://kane-magus.livejournal.com/486801.html) like that. Granted, while I personally have almost zero interest in current gen consoles myself, I don't actively hate them or think they're "cancer" or whatever. (Aside from the X-bone (http://kane-magus.livejournal.com/tag/x-bone), of course, but my reasons for hating the X-bone have little to do with whatever effect it might be having on how well or not well PC ports of games from it turn out. ¬_¬)

Then again, to be fair, I suppose that only "several months" actually would sort of be "last minute" as far as the big AAA video game industry is concerned, given that Arkham Knight itself had been in production for years. Still doesn't mean it's a valid excuse for why the port was terrible, as though we should cut it some slack because of that, as the apologist Rocksteady fanboys seem to be implying.
