Another video by the same guy, although this time he talks about DRM, in particular the online bullshit.

Of course, the main defense offered about this and DLC as a whole, is that those people have no intention of playing the games in 5-10 years from now, let alone even 10-20 years, etc. IE: They don't give a fuck about preserving it.

If I step back for a second, I can understand where they're coming from even if they don't fully see it themselves. Look at the shit passed off as games these days. In most cases I wouldn't want to play them 5 years from now either - I'll just pick up the current rehash that's probably got 90% of the same content with a shinier coat of paint. And then developers wonder why they're not able to attract as loyal a group of followers the way games did in the past, or why those same games ended up being tossed aside as they entered into the new era of buggy, skeletal, piecemealed overcharged crapware.

Also, as already noted, DLC-as-DRM is why companies like CD Projekt RED do bullshit like (http://owsf2000.livejournal.com/105949.html) this (http://kane-magus.livejournal.com/734405.html), and then are able to get away with it and even get lauded for it, because far too many idiots are all just "WOO FREE DLC U ROCK CDPR HERP DERP UR NOT LIKE ALL THE OTHER EVIL COMPANIES CDPR HURR DURR I'LL NAME MY FIRSTBORN CHILD AFTER YOU CDPR!!!!1!!1`~!11!"
