According to some of the more out-there conspiracy theories going around, this whole thing with limited activations and crap with Mass Effect and Spore has little to do with piracy, and is supposedly the first tentative steps that EA is taking to test out how well a shady "game rentals via digital download" business model would go over, or some such. I don't really buy into that, but if it is true, then EA is comprised of even bigger asshats than most of us thought.
