Atari Age Stuff
Jan. 27th, 2006 03:19 amAround christmas I had a christmas bonus from work for one week's pay. Quite unusual to get, but welcomed all the same. Among other things I was going to place an order to either Atari Age to get some more homebrew games, or Mega Tokyo's online store to order some of their goodies.
Unfortunately, signing up an account with Megagear ended up being a pain and a half plus I don't think I ever received the email confirmation it claimed to be sending me to activate my account. Regardless, since I wanted to get an order done before I had a chance to really spend anything I went ahead and placed a second order with Atari Age. It arrived today, but because I was in the shower, the post office left a pickup slip to get it the next day, which is today. In about 6 hours.
In that order, I will be receiving two cheapy 7800 games from the 80's, still boxed. Jinx and Galaga iirc.
The rest is in the form of 3 homebrews for the 2600, which I'm actually more excited about.
Strat-O-Gems Deluxe This is a columns-type game on the 2600. Probably the main game I wanted to obtain of the entire order. I like games like this. Sue me.
SynthCart This cart basically puts the 2600's sound channels under the player's command via two keypads... which makes me think I should go buy a second keypad. ^_^; I figgered this might be more useful to me as a potential development tool for testing out possible music/sound effects. It's not really intended as an actual "game".
The last game is a hack of the homebrew "Running Man", used as a temporary gift card for those who ordered from Atari Age in December. "Reindeer Rescue" is already removed from the Atari Age store since it was only to be available for that month. I remember playing Running Man while it being developed so this should still be cool.
Another thing about megagear, was at the time one volume of the manga was sold out at the time I was trying to place an order. ^_^; That kind of deflated the desire to get an order placed since I was going to get all three volumes. Oh well, I'll just have to check it again when I get my refund later next month. ^^;
