Survival Multiplayer

While I'm still having to play with a lot of fog, I've been poking around minecraft multiplayer servers for shits and giggles. Not entirely sure why I'm bothering since for the most part I just want to wander around and build random crap or explore caves etc. Pretty much what I do in single player anyway. >_>

Finding a good one will apparently be a challenge.

The fun of multiplayer minecraft (for me at least) is talking with other people and building collaborative projects. The servers I'm on are all private with my friends, otherwise i'd totally invite you to one of those. We're mostly builders, but not really spelunkers. I'll ask "the guys" when I get back home (i'm at a silly orientation thing atm), if you want.

Well, I tend to be both builder and spelunker, although my buildings/bases aren't usually built to be pretty as opposed to functional. Assuming it's a pure survival server that doesn't have the give command active I could also be a resource gatherer. ;)

Although I'm sure I'd end up building a mob grinder or two in the process. Not sure what it is with me and those things. *inno*

Heh, I tend to be mostly an explorer/spelunker myself. Any "base" I make tends to just be an island of which I've hollowed out the inside. I've tried building more traditional things (if you consider building an underwater tower made of glass "traditional") but it just doesn't seem to hold my interest for very long.

afaik, the server's just a straight up survival server. no give command or anything like that. There are a couple mods to help gameplay, though, primarily Scavenger, which automatically gathers and restores your items to you when you die. THere're also ones to turn pumpkins into "diving helmets" to give you more time underwater before dying, and one that makes boats behave like minecarts, that is, not breaking on impact (not that anyone uses boats anymore with the skyway and the Nether Super Highway...)
