Steam Queue Suggestions...

I vaguely remember the whole point of steam queue suggestions being to suggest things steam thinks you'll be interested in based on various reasons. Actual reasons. Reasons that might actually make sense. "Similar to this game you own." "Similar to other games you play." etc.

This is in your discovery queue just to see if you might be interested.

You've already looked at a lot of games that we have the best information on for you. Until new games release, you might see less relevant games as you explore more of your queue.

I suddenly started seeing this for almost all of the suggestions it gives me. Now and then I see things being in my queue simply because it's on sale. No other reason to show it at me.

I think it's time to stop checking the steam queues for a few months.

I've seen that before, too. (In fact, I just tried a queue while in the process of typing this comment, and that showed up on the second "game" that appeared in my queue.)

Which is a bit weird, in my case, because I've gotten to where I only do a Steam discovery queue maybe once in a blue moon, mainly because of all the other reasons it was becoming less useful to me, and that's only if I happen to even remember that the discovery queue is a thing that exists at all anymore.

But then, even the games it shows as being "similar to" is blatant crap more often than not. For instance, the game that showed when I clicked next after the above one is this one. The "similar to games you've played:" thing shows X4: Foundations, which is like... uh... what? Um, no, those games are not even remotely similar at all, Valve.

Just finished out the queue, and six of the twelve games in the queue, literally half of them, had that "This is in your discovery queue just to see if you might be interested" thing on them. Maybe the queues are just broken now?

In any case, why do they even ask "Is this game relevant to you?" if they're not going to provide a way to respond with "No" or "Yes"? (I mean, aside from just outright Ignoring or Wishlisting/buying the game in question, I guess.)

The "More Info" button under the "This is in your discovery queue just to see if you might be interested" thing just leads to this:

More about recommendations
You've found something that doesn't look like other things you've used in the past. Steam will learn about your preferences from the games you play, movies you watch, and software you use on Steam. We will use this activity to tailor your recommendations to your tastes.

LIKE THIS ITEM?
If you like this item and go on to purchase and play it, we'll take that into account when making future recommendations

NOT INTERESTED IN THINGS LIKE THIS?
You can also configure your store preferences to tell Steam about tags or types of products that you aren't interested in. Visit store preferences.

Which is sort of worthless.

Yeah, "purchasing and playing" a game might influence recommendations, but I'm not sure if marking a game as Ignored or just skipping it in the queue influences anything at all. Supposedly, it does, but I'm just not so sure that actually works properly, anymore.

I know for an absolute fact that ignoring a publisher definitely doesn't affect shit, though, because I still get games from publishers whose pages I've explicitly marked as Ignored showing up in my discovery queue. I usually report those games with whatever is the closest report category with the additional comment of "Why am I still getting games from (whatever publisher) showing up in my discovery queue, when I have explicitly marked the Steam page for (whatever publisher) as Ignored? Fix this already, Valve." And, clearly, that's been doing wonders for getting the problem solved. *eye roll* It's cathartic, at least.
