Final Fantasy pixel remasters (for 1-6 on PSN)
It was on sale on PSN so I went ahead and picked it up. Essentially Final Fantasy 1 to 6.
As much as I loathe what Square Enix has become, this will likely end up being a Final Fantasy winter as I play through these, and then possibly start playing through the other Final Fantasy games I have. I realized I own most of the FF games in various incarnations, but according to my games complete list, I haven't actually completed any of them. Thinking back I think the only game I actually completed was FF1 on the original NES back in the day. However, the requirement I set for myself to add something to the game complete list is for the game to be completed AFTER the list was started. Mostly to avoid the headache of trying to remember for a fact what I completed growing up. Besides, it would give me an excuse to play my favorite games from back in the day all over again.
The immediate goal is to play through and finish Final Fantasy 1 remaster. After I finish that, I'm going to hook up the NES and play through the original and try to note what's different beyond some obvious things like the graphics. (It's all still pixelated and mostly like the original, but they don't hold themselves to the original system's palette restrictions.)
Barring no unexpected complications I plan on really starting in on FF1remaster Saturday night.

I have it and the other five Wishlisted on Steam, but the bundle has yet to hit a price point at which I'd be willing to buy it. Right now, it's apparently on a 38% off sale, but it still costs almost $60 USD (normally almost $100 USD), and I have no intention of paying that much for 30-plus year old Nintendo/Super Nintendo games, even if that averages out to around $10 per game (which, for me, is still too expensive for 30-plus year old NES/SNES games, even if "remastered").

1. Auto-battle option. Fairly certain that wasn't in the original. Battle speeds up and the characters will reuse whatever they did the last round. Can be a pain that results in you accidentally casting Flare (not Nuke) on an Imp.
2. Map button. Shows you the current floor, which makes any attempt at using a large mazey area to wear down the player with dead ends pointless. Granted in the past some of us just used strategy guides like the ones we got from Nintendo Power anyhow.
3. Enemies definitely got an hp buff, particularly the bosses. Pretty sure they didn't have anywhere near as much in the original...
Still, not a bad thing overall. But enough of a difference that when I added it to my Games Complete list, I marked it specifically as the pixel remaster edition. If I want to beat FF1 original for the list, I'll have to play through a different version.
FF2 will be a different beast though as I haven't played it before despite owning a remake on the playstation portable apparently...

And yeah, I think the map thing was in FF6 remaster as well, or at least I vaguely recall Woolie messing with it a few times during their LP anyway.
